WINS -Men’s QLD Amateur:

August 2017 saw Doug contest the Men’s QLD AMATEUR at Pacific Harbour Golf and Country Club. This was played under match play conditions with Doug winning his Quarter Finals 1up, Semi Finals winning 2&1 and Finals winning against Inia Logan 2&1, to become the second Queenslander to win the Men’s QLD Am in the last eight years.


WINS – Gary Player Classic:

From the Qld Amateur Event Doug then went on to play in the GARY PLAYER CLASSIC 19-22 September 2017. This event was held at Brisbane’s Pacific Golf Club and played over four days. The Gary Player Classic is an Australian Boys’ Ranking Event open to male golfers under the age of 21 years. Doug, who plays in the 18-20 age division starts with a field of 48 players and then will be cut to the leading 20 players after 54 holes. Doug’s four-round total of 279 (69, 69, 71, 70) was nine under the card and 11 shots better than the runner-up. He played solid golf for the four rounds, each under par, that included 17 birdies and 8 errors. His nine under par was the result of four sub par rounds in which his score was the lowest each day. What a momentous effort!!!


26-29 October sees Doug compete in the 2017 Isuzu Qld Open:

This event is set to tee-off at The Brisbane Golf Club, Yeerongpilly, an 18-hole championship golf course which is ranked in the Top 100 golf courses in Australia. There will be a strong field of competitors where you’ll see both professionals and amateurs competing against each other. Doug’s two recent major wins will be an enormous confidence builder going into this event.
