Officially opened on the 30th June 1906 and situated on what has been described as rugged coastal dunes and celebrated for its extensive bunkering and picturesque natural backdrops, The Royal Adelaide Golf course was the venue of the 2016 South Australian Amateur Classic.

Having previously hosted nine Australian Opens, along with many International events and rated among the world’s top 100 courses, Royal Adelaide is a true test of the game. With past winners such as Peter O’Malley (1985), Stuart Appelby (1992), Greg Chalmers (1994), Brett Rumnford (1996) and Daniel Nisbett (2009) this event supports a wonderful and important part in Australian golfing history.

With rounds of 75,72,75 and 73 on this challenging layout, Doug had firmly secured 15th place playing amongst some of Australia’s best Amateur golfers.

In understanding that Doug’s goals were always going to be higher, much higher in fact, it is important to not lose sight of this achievement by recognising that it takes courage, drive and determination to never give up – that’s the foundations of a true champion.

Keep up the great work Doug, best wishes from all at Goodstart.
